In 2001 we found “Matua”. It made us smile. We set about renovating, building & developing in the garden which is an ongoing project. In 2006 we opened for business as Matua Gardens Retreat. We have many interests including sailing, bridge, art, theatre, travel, gardening, food, wine, conservation, community and people.

We offer financial & practical  support to The Isaac Theatre Royal, The Court Theatre, Hinewai Reserve, Whakaroa Community Conservation, Orion Gallery, Robinsons Bay Reserve Management Committee, Akaroa 002 Book Group & the Akaroa Bridge Club.

We love sharing Matua Gardens Retreat with guests from all over New Zealand & the world.
